BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday will deliver his response to President Abbas' letter on the peace process via an adviser, a PLO official said.

PLO executive committee member Wasil Abu Yousif told Ma'an that the Israeli premier's adviser, Yitzhak Molcho, will deliver a letter from Netanyahu to Ramallah.

Yousif said Israel's response would not contain anything new.

"It will echo what happened in Amman during the exploratory talks. Israel will insist basically on its security with Israeli troops to remain deployed near the borders," he said.

"The Israelis may suggest a fragmented Palestinian state linked with a network of tunnels and bridges. They will also insist on Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel, and will not offer any solution for the problem of Palestinian refugees," the PLO official added.

The PLO executive committee will convene on Sunday to discuss the ongoing hunger strike by prisoners, reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah, the proposed cabinet reshuffle, as well as Israel's response to Abbas' letter, Yousif said.

PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat and Palestinian intelligence chief Majed Faraj met Israel's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on April 17 and handed over a letter on the peace process.

The letter from President Mahmoud Abbas included references to the two-state solution on the 1967 borders, a settlement freeze and the release of Palestinians held since before the Oslo Accords

Netanyahu, who took the letter from Erekat, promised a written reply in two weeks.
