Freed Gaza prisoners call for pledged support

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) -- Several prisoners recently freed from Israeli jails have set up a protest tent to call on the president to fulfill his pledges of support to them upon their release.

The prisoners gathered at the tent in the west of Gaza City on Sunday to rally for the promised "life with dignity."

"We are the sons of Fatah and the sons of Abu Mazen (President Mahmoud Abbas). We do not like protest but we were forced into this after our demands were not responded to," freed prisoner Iyad Al-Sabakhi told Ma'an.

The prisoners say Abbas committed to employ them in the Palestinian Authority and date back their salaries.
