Israeli authorities encircle Qalqiliya land with fence

QALQILIYA (Ma’an) – Israeli authorities have started to install a fence around the southern side of Azzun Atma in Qalqiliya in the northern West Bank.

A two-meter high spiral fence was installed on around 1,500 meters of land running from the settlement of Oranit to the crossroads of Kafr Qasim and route 505, according to Abdul-Karim Ayyoub, the secretary of the local council.

"With this fence, Israel is isolating the area known as Beer al-Shilla, the artisan well, and about 800-1000 dunams (over 8,000 meters squared) of different groves. Farmers will not be able to access their fields even after they pass the gate on the northern side of the road," he added.

Hani Amer, who is in charge of the artisan well in al-Shilla said that neither the well nor the groves could be accessed anymore, as the Israelis have not left openings or gates leading to the well or to the dirt roads.

What reason have they given for this? Another action involving Israel thumbing their noses at International Law. The next move is to declare the land "abandoned land" in a years' time - "Well, they haven't used it for a season, have they? Must have abandoned it." No wonder Israel has become the world pariah. Oh, of course, except for the US - but I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the US administration discusses Israeli policies in private.

Liar, thief - white colonialist settlers stole all of the Lucky Country. Lucky for the thieves. We dont want your cheap beer and your old clothes. You took all the land, you gave the land to sheep and rabbits. Go back to Ireland, thief.

As usual, the true situation is worse than most people know. By the way, the term for the well is ARTESIAN, not ARTISAN. An artesian aquifer is underground water under pressure, hence, an artesian well is a well dug or drilled into an artesian aquifer, which the West Bank is full of.

This is tragic and if it's true reads like a genocide plan set in motion. All of the information is out there and being ignored How do we justify not knowing. Denial. What will you do if all this is true? Begin to understand the humanity of your enemy the importance of getting to know and communicating There is value of ones life even if it is lived in a way so different from your own. Listen to your friends when they tell you this is an occupation and wrong on so many levels

Israelis are acting true to form. Maximum land grab while incurring maximum cruelty. Shame on the US congress and the Administration for protecting Israel in the UN and for giving Israel huge amounts of foreign aid.
