RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Ahmad al-Majdalani, the PA's labor minister, on Wednesday denied suggestions from the union of workers that money would be deducted from their salaries to support Palestinian refugees in Syria.

Deputy of the workers union Mueen Ansawi had told Voice of Palestine radio that an initiative had been put forward to the Palestinian Authority to deduct 1 percent of workers salaries and donate it to Palestinians in Syria.

Al-Majdalani, also speaking to Voice of Palestine, denied that any such initiative had been presented, adding that he thought it was a good idea and would strengthen the bond between Palestinians and the diaspora.
