Abbas in Saudi Arabia for Islamic summit

MECCA, Saudi Arabia (Ma'an) -- President Mahmoud Abbas and several senior Palestinian officials performed the Umrah pilgrimage in holy Saudi city Mecca on Monday morning, official media said.

PLO negotiator Saeb Erekat, PA minister of religious affairs Mahmoud al-Habbash, director of the PA’s general intelligence Majid Faraj, and Abbas’ diplomatic consultant Majdi al-Khalidi accompanied the president, according to Palestinian Authority news agency Wafa.

Abbas and his delegation arrived in the Red Sea city of Jeddah on Sunday. He is scheduled to participate in the Organization of Islamic Countries two-day summit in Mecca starting on Tuesday.
