Bethlehem police say 45,000 entered Jerusalem on Friday

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Bethlehem police said Saturday that officers helped secure the entry of over 45,000 Palestinians from the southern West Bank into Jerusalem for the last Friday of Ramadan.

A police statement said ambulance, police and military crews successfully enabled citizens to exercise their right to perform prayers in Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque on the concluding Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Al-Aqsa Foundation said on Friday that 200,000 people attended prayers at the holy site.

Police are on on full alert for preparations ahead of the Eid al-Fitr holiday which begins on Sunday, the statement added.

We live for the day when all Palestinians can visit East Jerusalem freely at any time. Grovelling to the Israeli's for permits is humiliating.
