BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- Japan's government announced on Wednesday that it would donate $10 million to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees.

An agreement was signed in Amman by Commissioner-General of UNRWA Filippo Grandi and ambassador of Japan to Jordan Junichi Kosuge, a statement said.

"At a time when the government and people of Japan are still under pressure to address needs nearer to home and to recover from the devastating earthquake and tsunami, their generosity towards the Agency and Palestine refugees is particularly touching," Grandi said.

Japan’s assistance to Palestinian refugees through the UN agency has amounted to more than $600 million.

All very nice Japan. BUT,it would be more honorable if Japan STOOD UP,& demanded that Israel end its ILLEGAL blockade/sanctions on Gaza completely, sign the NPT/IAEA,B4 Dimona does a Fukushima!!! Your money'll be split between Israel,PA,& Hamas before it gets to the suffering Gazan's.So,just DEMAND USG stop sending 3 BILLION US tax-dollars to Israel, per annum,ILLEGALLY,to support a militarist OCCUPATION & ethnic cleansing! Don't hand out dry crumbs, when the bakery is Palestine's RIGHT!

Now that Israel is somewhat of an economic powerhouse and entering the ranks of the world's leading economies, notice the Japanese are not so friendly and effusive to the Arabs anymore. 10 million to Japan is literally pocket change. They keep their eye on the bigger picture.
