TULKAREM (Ma’an) -- Palestinian security sources said Wednesday that Israel arrested a man freed in last October's exchange deal between Hamas and Israel, in the third such arrest this week.

An Israeli army spokeswoman denied the Palestinian Authority's assertion that soldiers raided the Tulkarem village of Qaffin and detained Majday al-Ajouly, 48, his wife, and daughter, 18.

Al-Ajouly was released shortly after the incident, the security forces said.

Al-Ajouly was released in the prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel last October.

Two prisoners released in the Oct. 18 deal were arrested Monday. Abdul Rahman Ahmad Ishteiwi and Mahmoud Adnan Mahmou Salim were arrested in Qalqiliya in an act the director of the Palestinian prisoners society called "provocative."

Also overnight Wednesday, Israeli forces arrested nine people, the army said.

Seven people were detained in Nablus and two in the Ramallah area, an Israeli army spokesman said. All those detained were taken for security questioning.

Witnesses told a Ma’an correspondent that 28-year-old Samer Ali Qanawi was detained in Jenin overnight Wednesday. He had been released from Israeli jail recently, having spent three years imprisoned.

In Dec. 2011, Ramallah-based rights group Addameer said that Israel had detained nearly 470 Palestinians since the Oct. 18 release of 477 prisoners from Israeli jail in exchange for captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

"This wave of arrests reveals that the exchange deal has not deterred Israel’s policy of detention of Palestinians; rather, Israeli prisons are being refilled with almost the exact number of Palestinians that were released in October," the prisoners group said at the time.

Palestinians living in the occupied territories are routinely arrested by Israeli forces, usually on the pretext of security.

Around 40 percent of Palestinian men living in the occupied territories have been detained by Israel at some point in their lives.

EXACTLY what I predicted - you can trust the word of the israelis as far as
you can throw them.
Hamas should have kept Shalit until ALL illegal sttlements were dismantled,
a UN force monitoring the pre '67 borders was in place, Jerusalem was
equitably divided and the right of return established.
THEN, and only then, should Shalit have been freed.

I really do not understand these supposedly intelligent people choosing Palestine to create their racist entity. Are they enjoying themselves living with walls and walking around with machine guns everywhere, always afraid? Do they really think things will be better for them in 20, 50 or 100 years? I think they must be some kind of masochists.
