JENIN (Ma'an) -- Khader Adnan is to undergo surgery on his intestine after spending 66 days on hunger strike, a former detainee told a prisoners center on Tuesday.

Tareq Iz al-Dein said that Adnan will be operated on at Zeev hospital in Safed, northern Israel. He did not specify when the procedure would take place.

Israeli officials announced last week that they intended to release Adnan on April 17, shortly before his administrative detention term was set to end.

In return, Adnan agreed to end his strike, PA and Israeli officials said.
