The 'ancient Jewish lands' were -- arguably -- such for maybe five hundred years -- from when something recognizable as Judaism emerged around 300-400 BC to when the faith lost out to Christianity et al. During that time, the region never became entirely Jewish, and was almost invariably politically and culturally dominated by its successive Persian, Greek, and Roman masters. That Palestine is somehow 'Jewish' is close to complete nonsense.
