HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces detained eight Palestinians in the West Bank overnight Tuesday, the army said.

An Israeli military spokeswoman told Ma'an that Israeli border police arrested a man in Hebron near the Ibrahimi mosque. Locals identified him as 22-year-old Issa Zughayyar and said he was accused of carrying a knife.

Meanwhile, soldiers detained two people in the Hebron district, the spokeswoman said.

Locals told Ma'an that Anwar Awawdah was detained in southern Hebron. Soldiers confiscated his car and physically assaulted him, they added.

Another five Palestinians were detained across the West Bank, the army official said.
