GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Four leaders of the Independent Palestinian Party on Monday said they quit the party in protest over its undemocratic decision-making process.

IPP vice-chairman Muhammad Nafeth Abu Ziad, the party's representative in Cairo negotiations Mahmud Salem Salim, crossings official Khaled Labod and refugee affairs coordinator Salim Abu Zaid told Ma'an they left the party because its decisions were made by individuals and not by consensus.

The four men were part of the party's 7-member leadership in Gaza but said as of Monday they were no longer affiliated to the group.

They said they would continue to work independently and with all other factions and national figures in support of Palestinians' national interests.
