JERICHO (Ma'an) -- Palestinian Authority forces have arrested 21 people at the Allenby Bridge border crossing over the past week, a statement said Saturday.

Border police said that all those detained were wanted on criminal charges. The border authorities have facilitated the travel of 31,000 people over the same time period.

Over 17,000 people have entered Jordan from the West Bank, with over 13,500 arriving via Jordan.

Israeli forces prevented 123 Palestinians from leaving the West Bank, citing security reasons, the statement added.

The Allenby Bridge crossing is the only exit point for most Palestinians in the West Bank.

There is no airport in the West Bank and most Palestinians are not allowed to use Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport, so residents of the West Bank must cross the Allenby Bridge and fly from Amman's airport.
