GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The spokesman of the military wing of Hamas on Saturday spoke out against news reports that its members had infiltrated into Egypt in a bid to disturb the peace ahead of presidential runoff elections.

Echoing a Hamas official who spoke to Ma'an earlier, Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obaida said the report in Egyptian newspaper Al-Sharouk was "surprising" and "fabricated". "There is no other explanation besides that it aims to create conflict," he said.

"We trust the great Egyptian people and their revolutions … they are rational enough not to believe in such lies," he continued.
