Video: Border policeman kicks Palestinian child in Hebron

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- An Israeli border police officer kicked a Palestinian child lying on the ground in central Hebron, according to footage released by Israeli rights group B'Tselem on Monday.

A B'Tselem spokeswoman said the group would file a complaint with the Israeli army and police over the incident on Friday.

The footage, shot by a B'Tselem volunteer near the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron's Old City, shows 9-year-old Abdul-Rahman Burqan being grabbed by a border police official, and crying on the ground.

Another police officer arrives at the scene and kicks him while he remains in the policeman's grip, the video shows.



In November 2011, another B'Tselem volunteer filmed a border policeman cock his weapon and aim it at 13 year-old Muhannad al-Bakri in the same area of Hebron.

The group says that "both the army and the Border Police have yet to make it unequivocally clear to security forces serving in the Occupied Territories that it is absolutely forbidden to abuse and beat Palestinians."

Further, "many instances of abuse are not exposed because they have become the norm, and, for Palestinians, filing complaints is very time consuming," B'Tselem says.

' The irony is that this is of course a lie. If one wants to go over to statistics, Israel has killed far more Palestinians than Palestinians have killed Israelis, and the victims were more likely to be women and children.

SO Betz55, which "settler squats" (sic) killed whom? We have documented cases of Palestinians killing over 1000 Israeli civilians with car bombs, suicide bombs, guns and knives. Not only are they documented by Israel (and Amnesty and HRW), but the Palestinians are proud of it and produce hero posters of them. So please post a comment with links to documentation of the the last 50 Palestinians killed by "settler squats". You can't.

One abuse doesn't offset another. The Border Police are acting in the name of Israel and, by extension and self-definition, all Jews the world over! This alone means that Syria is irrelevant, as Israel claims to represent a "Western" sensibility. Kicking this boy will not bring back the Itmar family, even as the abuse just adds to decades of numberless murders by Israel over decades of lies, deceit and loathsome racism and unspeakable avarice and greed.

#1 - again, the old argument "they did, so we can too"? So that's all right then. But if you are going down that track, then list all the atrocities committed - by both sides. And don't forget current actions by the settlers, then go back to the Irgun, Levi, Stern Gang, Haganah, both pre and post 1948, the recent Hebron massacre by Goldstein, who has since become a hero in Israel. Not to mention those Israelis who regularly march, chanting "death to all Arabs." What a charming lot they are!

Dear #10, Does Baruch Godstein ring a bell? He went into the Ibrahimi Mosque...the exact place where this kid was kicked...and shot and killed 29 Palestinians as they were praying and injured another 125. Of course he eventually ran out of bullets and was beaten to death...and rightfully so. of course he was praised as a "martyr" by the Israelis. In fact, Rabbi Dov Lior or Kiryat Arba even called him a "martyr of God" for doing "God's work." Does he count as a "settler squat" to you????"
