RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Staff at government universities threatened to resume a strike over salary disputes in a letter to the Ministry of Education on Saturday.

Employees of government universities and technical colleges have been engaged in strikes since February, demanding a raise in salaries to match the wages of private universities.

Their union on Saturday wrote to Education Minister Ali al-Jarbawi demanding the payment of 2011 bonuses before the holy month of Ramadan, which begins in late July, and to incorporate technical colleges into the university system.

The union also urged the Palestinian Authority to resolve administrative problems, and to take into account employees' qualifications and experience when awarding salaries.
