GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- The Secretary-general of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine has called on Palestinian politicians and leaders to end the national division, a former prisoner who served time with him said Sunday.
Yousef Abu Ghalmi, who was released several days ago, told Ma'an that Ahmad Saadat urged factions to end the national state of confusion, and not act out of personal interests.
There is a public demand for social justice and democratic freedoms, the PFLP leader added.
"Ahmad Saadat's health is good, and that represents the strong and steadfast Palestinian leader. We will never lose hope," Abu Ghalmi said.
Israeli prison authorities are still procrastinating over implementing a hunger strike agreement in May, he added.
Around 2,000 prisoners ended a month-long hunger strike on May 15 after Israeli authorities agreed to their demands, which included the release of detainees from solitary confinement.
