NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Palestinian women held a meeting in Nablus on Sunday to encourage participation in elections and discuss women's role in the vote.

Fatah revolutionary council member Dalal Salameh and other political and social leaders attended the meeting.

Fatah Central Committee member Mahmoud al-Aloul addressed the group and stressed the urgent national need for elections. He urged all women to register to vote, adding that women were men's partners in all fields.

Al-Aloul updated the group on reconciliation and political developments locally and across the region, and their impact on the Palestinian cause.

The Fatah official also discussed US pressure on the Palestinian Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas.

The .main role of the women is to be on the top oft the factions? lists. Nothing less. These men who were talking at the meeting just want women’s votes but not allow them to be a part of decision making process. Al Fatah has marginalized women and youth, and this population is majority of the Palestinian people. The over aged men have power in the Palestinian clan society.
