Sweden releases PA from $28 million loan
Published Monday 13/08/2012 (updated) 14/08/2012 13:19
RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- The Swedish government has decided to release the Palestinian Authority from a $28 million loan dating back to 1999, the PA finance minister said Monday.

Minister Nabil Qassis applauded the Swedish government. "The Palestinian people appreciate the Swedish political and economic support to the PA, which helps build future state institutions," he said in a statement.

The Swedish government had granted the PA a returnable loan in 1999 to fund an electricity project in the Gaza Strip.

"The Swedish government had granted the PA a returnable loan in 1999 to fund an electricity project in the Gaza Strip" - it explains power outages in Gaza. Loan was probably stolen by PLO, PA and Hamas long time ago. It is hard to tell now who benefited more. Maybe Suha Arafat knows? I am afraid that the same will happen with current $28M loan.

Dear Swedish Ministry of Finance - I am turning to you for a loan to develop my own private electricity supply to reach independence from the criminal Israel Electric Company. I believe that 250,000 Euros will provide me with a wind turbine and enough solar panels and batteries that I will never have to pay those crooks at the IEC another shekel. Please make the check out to Brian Cohen, and I promise to pay it back under the same conditions you granted to the PA. Thank you. Sincerely, B Cohen.

#1 hihi/usa remind me - how much does the US "lend" Israel each year? 3 billion? 3 1/2 billion? And then how much does the US "forgive" Israel the following year - and then "lend" them a further 3 - 3.5 billion?

USA gives Israel 3-5 billion dollars yearly for playing police in the region and cooperate with dictators like Mubarak was.

Gaby/Australia - the US doesn't "lend" Israel anything. The US gives Israel $3 billion/year in military aid, 70% of which is required to be spent in the US. It is our belief that helping Israel acquire the means to defend itself is an investment that works for both countries. Israel has not taken economic assistance in years.

First I must commend Sweden for helping out the Palestinians. What is really criminal is the billions and billions of dollars forgiven by US for israel. israel has the money to pay but refuses to pay. Palestine has an excuse. israel destroyed thier economy. israel used their money to murder civilians, arrest children, ethnically cleanse, impoverish Palestinians and torture.

The jokes about the PA and Hamas stealing it is dumb misinformation. israel blew up the energy works and made it impossible to get spare parts. israel is quite sleazy. israel hires commentators to sit in the comment area and perpetuate the misinformation instead of paying US money back. israel bitches & moans about Pals doing what israel does more. Examples, israel has been the worst offender of using civilians as human shields, welching on loans and murdering civilians. Some Nazi crimes pale.
