GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades claimed it had fired rockets into several Israeli cities on Monday, as the Israeli police said a school in southern Israel had been hit.
The Al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement that its fighters fired eight grad rockets on Ashdod and other military locations.
The birgades claimed responsibility for two direct hits, one on a building in Gan Yavne east of Ashdod and an Israeli intelligence site east of Rafah.
The Popular Resistance Committee's army wing also claimed responsibility for fire Monday morning.
The Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades said they fired rockets on Israeli military locations near Netivot, east of Gaza.
Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said a rocket landed next to a school in Ashkelon, causing extensive damage but no injuries.
Rockets were also fired at Ashdod, where a number were intercepted, and sirens sounded in Beersheba, Rosenfeld told Ma'an.
