GAZA CITY (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian man was shot in the chest by Israeli forces near the Gaza border on Sunday, witnesses said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said she was not aware of the incident, which took place near al-Qarara town in south Gaza.

Locals told Ma'an a man in his 20s suffered a bullet wound after Israeli forces opened fire near the al-Sureij gate on the border.

Israeli troops have fired several times across the border since a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas went into effect in November.

The latest incident was Friday, when Israeli soldiers shot and injured a 19-year-old man east of Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip, medical officials said.

Israel has imposed a no-go zone on the borders, but agreed to stop targeting Palestinians in the area as part of the ceasefire, Gaza's government has said.

'Israel has imposed a no-go zone on the borders.' Can Gaza impose a 'no-go zone' extending into Israeli territory? Considering all the attacks that emanate from there, it would seem a reasonable step.

yet another breach - and Hamas has not responded. Just which is the terrorist entity operating in Gaza, the IDF or Hamas?

1- It seems a more "reasonable step would" be to NEGOTIATE a peace agreement with Israel, INSTEAD OF a FANTASY of "imposing a no-go zone on the borders extending into Israeli territory", and
2- "Hamas has not responded" because their old terror and war crimes ways are now largely ineffective with Israel's improved anti-rocket technology, and such methods have already cost Gaza most world sympathy !!

@ 1), Your sarc-ass-tic humor (as usual) sucks. Separately, we have made it crystal-clear to all Palestinians to simply STAY the hell AWAY from the border area. Now is NOT the time to go there for ANY reason. Just stay the hell AWAY !!! If this would be done we would NOT harm, shoot or KILL ANYBODY. How many damn times do we have to SAY THIS ??? ...

To @ #3 'It seems a more "reasonable step would" be to NEGOTIATE a peace agreement with Israel...' That would be like the WZO 'negotiating a peace' with Nazi Germany. Israel is bent on exterminating Palestine, and always has and always will do everything she can to bring that end about.

Yehuda Solomon - actually it is your sarcasm that sucks. Why can't the Gazans say to the IDF "stay the hell away from our border or go there at your peril?" I guess the answer is that, despite the fact that Israel (and you) always proclaim that they "gave back" Gaza, they are still in total control and will do whatever they want. Supported by people like you, who benefit from all this, hoping that these actions from the "light to all nations" will ensure the Palestinians are all dead or leave

To Yehuda #4 ' Separately, we have made it crystal-clear to all Palestinians to simply STAY the hell AWAY from the border area. Now is NOT the time to go there for ANY reason. Just stay the hell AWAY !!! If this would be done we would NOT harm, shoot or KILL ANYBODY. How many damn times do we have to SAY THIS ??? ...' So I take it the Palestinians can say the same?

To gabi #2 'Just which is the terrorist entity operating in Gaza, the IDF or Hamas?' Dumb question. the IDF, of course. Just count up how many civilians each has killed.

The prison fence around Gaza is built on Palestinian land. Palestine extends well beyond the invader's blockade, south, east, west, and north. Israel's only legal borders are those as declared in 1948 based on the UN maps of 1947. No other legal description of Israel exists.

As a legal state, Palestine enjoys a 12-mile offshore territorial limit and an offshore economic exclusion zone up to 200 miles. The economic zone is negotiable with her relevant neighbours. Israel's interest in this area is negligible except that legal Gaza Strip, Palestine extends as far north as Jerusalem (see 1947 Partition Map http://mideastweb.org/palestine_partition_map_1947s.jpg). Israel's offshore developments in much of this area is not legally defined.

1- Since the UNGA just passed the resolution creating Palestine this year, you must realize that PALESTINE NEVER EXISTED AS A STATE, so it is impossible for "Israel being bent on exterminating" something that never existed.

2- Israel is actually doing more to create Palestine (on Gaza and Areas A/B), than either the PLO or Hamas, just NOT the Palestine the Arabs desire.

3- Palestinians should learn from Kurdish mistakes, where accepting
LESS THAN DESIRED IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.

Islamic militants attacks caused the border to be dangerous to approach,
and realistically ONLY Islamic militants ACCEPTING PEACE WITH ISRAEL
will ever cause the border to be truely safe to approach in the future !!

Palestine was the canvass on which Israel was painted. Unfortunately the Zionists used blood and the colour ran over parts which were not Israel. But when we bleach out this over-lapping stain, Palestine will re-emerge.

I spent 3 days with Gazan farmers last week trying to sew their wheat crop, up to but not inside the zone designated as no go by Israel, on each day there was a heavy Israeli military presence on the other side of the fence. On 2 of those days they fired into the Buffer Zone in order to chase the farmers away. I couldnt help but notice the casual way the soldiers behaved prior to shooting, clearly feeling unthreatened by the farmers who were very obviously civilians with international observers
