NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Unidentified gunmen attempted to assassinate a leader from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command in Nablus on Monday night, the group said Tuesday.
The gunmen waited for Muhammad Jibril outside his home and fired multiple rounds at his car when he returned. He managed to escape from the vehicle without injury, PFLP-GC said in a statement.
PFLP-GC condemned the assassination attempt, calling it a threat to national unity, and called on the Palestinian Authority to arrest those responsible.
Nablus governor Jibrin al-Bakri told Ma'an the attack was not an assassination attempt. He said two people were embroiled in a financial dispute near Jibril's house and one opened fire, hitting the PFLP-GC leader's car.
Police are investigating the incident.
