RAMALLAH (Ma’an) – The union of Palestinian civil servants announced Wednesday resumption of protests as the Palestinian government continues to fail to pay monthly wages regularly.
Strikes in different ministries, according to a statement by the union, will be agreed on between ministers and the union’s different branches. Each minister will set a schedule for employees working within his ministry in coordination with the union’s regional branches so as to make sure all ministries will be functioning.
Employees, according to the statement, will work three days a week as agreed with the Palestinian government previously.
The union’s speaker Bassam Zakarna applauded the government for responding to the union’s demands. He said the union’s council convened Wednesday and discussed the agreement signed with the government. However, he said, this agreement does not mean the union will not disagree with the government over the budget, the irregularity of monthly wages and other issues.
