NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Settlers uprooted over 100 olive trees south of Nablus on Friday, a Palestinian Authority official said.

Settler-monitoring official Ghassan Daghlas told Ma'an that settlers from Rechalim destroyed at least 120 olive trees in the nearby Palestinian village of As-Sawiya.

The trees belonged to Muhammad Jazi and Hamdi Jazi.

"This is the second time that settlers uproot my olive trees in the last two years," Muhammad told Ma'an.

The settlers also wrote racist slogans in Hebrew over water barrels in the village, and sprayed the word "punishment," he added.

Senior DFLP leader Qais Abdel Karim, or Abu Leila, condemned the attack.

"We need to stand by our people before they demolish all their land and plants. They don't have the right to do this and they are doing so to make villagers leave their lands," he told Ma'an.

Settler violence against Palestinians and their property is routine and rarely prosecuted by Israel's legal system.

The criminal Israelites do this no doubt at night when they have the best advantage of avoiding detection. They're too damn "cowardly" doing it in the daytime (let alone being fanatically sick in their heads). Although I can't measure if the olive tree destruction has been on the wane recently since I've sent strong letters of condemnation to the Knesset and the IDF about this, our criminal Israelites can only be stopped with force. I will continue to do my part to strongly condemn (cont.)

such destruction as well as pressuring the Yesha Council (our W. Bank settlement political group) to work with the Palestinians to jointly stop this. There have been times when the criminal Israelites who have done this in the past have only been thwarted from continuing to do this after the Palestinians have strongly confronted the IDF W. Bank administrators. That HAS been successful several times in the past (it probably just doesn't get reported much) but (obviously) much more is necessary.

In the list of dos and don'ts set out in the Mistvot, one, number 604, I think, prohibits Jews from destroying fruit trees. Don't these settlers abide by their religious laws?
