RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- Palestine on Friday established diplomatic relations with Honduras, during the Palestinian Authority foreign minister's tour of central American countries.

Riyad al-Maliki met his Honduran counterpart Mireya Aguero in Honduras' capital Tegucigalpa and discussed strengthening bilateral ties.

"As foreign ministers, we are going to take on the responsibility of deepening and expanding our relationship, spurring trade, investment and contact between Palestinian and Honduran business owners," Maliki said at a joint news conference in the capital Tegucigalpa.

Earlier Friday, al-Maliki met Honduran President Porfirio Lobo. On behalf of President Abbas, al-Maliki thanked Lobo for his country's recognition of Palestine as a non-member state in the UN General Assembly.

On Thursday, al-Maliki signed a similar agreement to establish diplomatic relations with Salvador. The agreement was signed in the office of Salvadoran Foreign Minister Hugo Martinez.

Al-Maliki will also visit Nicaragua and Panama during the diplomatic tour.

It 'd feel a little MORE celebratory of popular"democracy" if US hadn't pulled a COUP(again)on Honduras,ousting popular Manuel Zelaya? USG's can't OUST all popularly elected Latino Pressies-again-for US-client clones,for US-control/business-pillage(like Col.,Guat.,Nicar.Pan.etc)& as attempted on Iraq,Syria,Leb&Palestine,to get Zionist/Riyadh-compliant stooges enthroned,while indigeous peoples SUFFER! Deja vu,with Reagan,Kissinger,Pinochet,Rios Montt,Saddam,Gadaffi,etc.OCCUPATION isn't DEMOCRACY!

Note to al Malki: Of Honduras’ population of 8.2 million, an estimated 200,000 to 250,000 are people of Arab descent – the great majority, Palestinian. The country’s wealthiest individual, Miguel Facuss? Barjum is of Palestinian descent. Facuss? one of the leading supporters of the June 2009 coup that toppled President Manuel Zelaya. Facuss? has a private militia that can count on support from the police and army to impose his will. - and is responsible for the murder of peasant activists.

Each additional Palestine embassy around the world, makes it increasingly UNlikely that Palestine will ever become a real state, on more lands, and possibly any lands, of the West Bank and Gaza.

You are right Richard! Like honduran, you are very informed...the “turcos" are very lazy people... The only thing that they can do is "maquila" business and big "pulperias". This diplomatic tie just ca works like intercultural relationship

Stupid move by the Honduran government. It only gives tourists another reason not to go there. Will it recognize Hamas next? How about doing something about San Pedro Sula, the murder capital of the world?

#6 Tibi: Each additional provocation by Zionist such as yourself make it less and less likely that you will be given mercy when you are convicted of your crimes.

Who cares if Honduras the banana republic recognizes Palestine, a nation that doesn't even exist. These are to meaningless poverty stricken territories anyway.
