HEBRON (Ma'an) -- A Palestinian man who died of wounds Tuesday sustained during clashes with Israeli forces in Dura was killed by an expanding bullet, the Hebron public hospital's forensic doctors told Ma'an.

The hospital's director said forensics confirmed Muatazz Sharawnah, 19, was shot with a "dum-dum" bullet, putting to rest speculation earlier on the man's cause of death.

The Israeli army told Ma'an that it could not confirm the cause of death but said Israeli forces had opened fire during clashes in the Dura city in the southern West Bank district of Hebron.

Earlier, a Palestinian security source had said Sharawnah was struck "deliberately" by a military vehicle.

The Israeli army told Ma'an that the incident was currently being investigated to ascertain Sharawnah's cause of death.

"Initial evidence suggests that one of the suspects began ascending one of the military vehicles. (Israeli forces) once again warned the suspect, and used riot dispersal means. Finally they had to respond with fire towards one of the suspects," the spokeswoman told Ma'an.

The army said it was unable to confirm yet if Sharawnah was shot by forces or was struck down by the car, pending the investigation, and said it would be releasing more details on the incident once available.

Locals said Israeli forces impeded the access of Palestinian Red Crescent Association paramedics when they attempted to reach Sharawnah to offer emergency care and evacuate him to hospital.

Medics from Hebron's public hospital declared Sharawnah dead on Tuesday morning.

Locals said Sharawnah was a student at the Palestinian Authority Military Academy in Jericho.

Israeli forces deployed heavily in the city and erected a number of checkpoints following the incident.

Since Imperial Rome, it has happened again and again. Jews enraged their host countries and repeatedly suffered disastrous pogroms. Excesses of Weimar Germany's monied Jewish minority led to the most recent which Israel promotes, actually advertises, as justification for its apartheid malevolence. “Never again” is lost on Netanyahu's Israel. Blind to history, its paranoid pursuit of invulnerability, territorial conquest and racist empire ensures “again” on a far grander scale.

Who wants to bet what the outcome of the IDF's investigation will be? Anyone? I'll put 10K cash on it. Btw - the use of dum dum bullets are illegal under international law. So is attacking an unarmed civilian population and denying them their human, civil, social, and cultural rights. Israel (as the occupier) is legally obligated (again under international law) to maintain the welfare of the occupied (Palestinian) population. Add this to a growing list of war crimes....

Cowards. All the IOF is good for is murdering innocent unarmed Palestinians. Probably some American Jew or Russian Jew who just came of the boat and wanted to have some fun by killing innocent Arabs. They want to test their impunity. Animals. Where is the PA? Those cowards are only good for beating down Palestinian demonstrators.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (Surely we belong to Allah and to Him shall we return). Muatazz Sharawnah (19) joins the long list of Palestinian martyrs. In this case, killed by an illegal 'dum dum' bullet fired by the IDF using 'riot dispersal means' & then run over. Palestine needs to sign the Rome Statute & join the ICC, sooner rather than later. The list of war crimes against Palestine & its people steadily rises, whilst the US backs Israel's impunity & the world watches on regardless.

Kerry is still in the neighborhood. I wonder if he considers this to be great "progress" towards establishing peace and resolving the conflict. Well, this... 930 new homes for settlers.
