HEBRON (Ma’an) – Two Palestinian women sustained bruises Saturday and three were detained during a peaceful rally against settlement expansion east of Yatta in the southern West Bank.

Local resident Ibrahim Hathalin told Ma’an that Israeli settlers attacked nonviolent protesters kicking them and beating them with rifle butts in Um al-Kheir neighborhood east of Yatta.

He added that three young Palestinian men and an international solidarity activist were detained. Two of the Palestinian detainees were identified as 23-year-old Kheir Suleiman Hathalin and 26-year-old Bilal Salim Hathalin.

Palestinian Red Crescent official Nasser Qabaja confirmed that ambulances evacuated two women to hospital after they were assaulted by Israeli troops. He identified the victims as Amina and Halima.
